Hello StoryLifers!
I wanted to drop you a note, let you know that my Dad came through surgery yesterday very well and will be heading home today - yay! Mom is exhausted and I think it may take her a few days to recover too! I’m so grateful to belong to a close-knit family. Where one goes, we all go! So it’s back to the hospital today to help with transitioning him home.
I hit a bit of a wall this week with writing, so instead of forcing things right now, I wanted to share a few photos with you that I took on the fly. One day last week I called bullshit on life, drove over the Cascades, dropped down the east side of the mountains, and planted myself along the banks of the Deschutes River.
Rivers and Mountains are my medicine. That trip reminded me of my whitewater kayaking days, and I started a story about one particular river run that changed everything. As soon as I finish it, you will be the first to know :)
I’m here to tell you that playing hooky on yourself is a good thing. If you’re feeling a little stressed, take a spontaneous break. Let the wheels roll you to a local watering hole, mountain, or park and soak up some of that good outside medicine!
Until we meet again (very soon) much love,
Michelle
It’s ok to play hooky, to take time for yourself, and to be with family. So glad Chuck is thru surgery and headed home.
Why didn't someone tell me your dad wasn't well!! Nobody tells me anything any more, not even Bob or Walter!!! Love you all, you know.
