StoryLife recently passed the one-year mark! The only reason we’ve reached this milestone is because of you. This is a community of dedicated readers who share thoughts and experiences from your own lives. You helped create a sense of community and connection during a year when many of us were feeling isolated or fragmented from our physical communities.
Some of you are writers, gardeners, artists, musicians, ranchers, teachers, attorneys, and parents or grandparents.
I invite you to introduce yourselves to the community. If you feel comfortable, share your name, place, and something about you or your life that would help us all get to know each other better. You can write something as short as a few words, one sentence, or your own short story. If you don’t want to share - that’s fine too. I’m just opening a conversation.
There is a wonderful pool of humans here, and I want to experiment with handing you the microphone :)
Feel free to comment and interact with each other’s responses - with respect, support, and and open mind.
Thank you for being here at the 1-year milestone of StoryLife!

I’ll go first:
Hello, my name is Michelle and I live in a rural valley in Southern Oregon. I have a prolific food garden and acres of big trees. I share this land with my parents and our neighbor Barb. I have two cats and 11 chickens. Before the pandemic I was a performing singer-songwriter who toured regionally and spent summers in Alaska. I’ve been writing stories since 5th grade, but put that kind of writing on the back-burner most of my life. I started StoryLife a little over a year ago (February 22nd, 2021 to be exact) to create a connection with others through the art of story.
Handing You the Microphone
Congratulations on your 1 year milestone! How exciting. My name is Matt — I am originally from Arizona but now call Oregon home. I am a musician/composer, and I share original music once every month in my newsletter, Fog Chaser. Glad to be part of the StoryLife community!
Congratulations on one year! I am Lisbeth L. McCarty, and I am an attorney and free-lance writer from Norman, OK (home of the University of Oklahoma). I also have a special love for art, music, and photography.
