Hello StoryLife Community!
This missive is a little different than the usual story (although I’ve got a story heading your way soon).
I’m excited to share an article with you that was published in Alaska’s Copper River Record this week. This publication is a local newspaper/newsletter that services the Copper River Basin, including McCarthy, Glennallen, Copper Center, Valdez, and all the communities in between. I’ll be doing some freelance writing for this publication and will share any articles with the StoryLife community that might be interesting, even if you’re not in Alaska.
For this article, I interviewed my friend Mark Vail, a rare gem in this world. He has created an artful, deeply connected life in the wilderness for thirty-four years and knows more about animals, plants, mushrooms, and cabbage-eating moose than anyone I’ve ever met.
This article is short on purpose to fit the parameters of the newspaper. I’m working on a longer essay that will take a deeper dive into the conversation I had with Mark on Alaska’s migratory birds. For now, here is a link if you’re interested in reading the Copper River Record article.
Otherwise, stay tuned for the next short story coming your way soon!
Congratulations, Michelle, on the publication. Look forward to the longer version. Hope you are doing well!
